About SRI
Sustainable Rural Initiatives (SRI) was established in 2013, as a visionary non-governmental organization driven by the goal to positively transform the livelihoods of rural communities. Since then SRI has focused its activities in Okana community and the wider Nyando region of Kisumu County of Western Kenya. SRI works with community stakeholders especially youths, women and children to develop capacities and potentials into life changing possibilities.

Volunteer
SRI has been receiving various international and local volunteers since 2016. They stay at SRI in different times/periods. Students from local universities who volunteered with us in 2016 are Harriet and Jackson of Moi University, and Paul Ologo and Wayne Abach of Maseno University. Most of these volunteers offered support in administration and during the construction of our Resource Centre, ranging from bamboo preparation and building construction, carrying out interviews in the community to find out the importance of the center. The volunteers had interesting experiences during their stay.
